Human guidance when an algorithm is not enough

SelfPatch normally chooses realistic daily actions from your goals, available time, progression and recent activity. Mentorship changes who writes the plan: for the module or modules a mentorship covers, and for its period, the algorithm stops assigning those tasks and a human mentor writes them instead.

Solo guidance vs mentorship

Without a mentorDuring mentorship
Tasks are selected from SelfPatch's structured pool. The mentor writes the tasks for the modules the mentorship covers.
Selection uses onboarding answers, goals, intake answers, progression, time and behaviour. The mentor can reuse saved task templates and set tasks to repeat within the period.
Daily tasks refresh every morning. The mentor can prescribe workouts and, in Nutrition, a diet plan; the user can send check-ins.
Progress is shown through XP, levels, ranks and streaks.Every mentorship ends with an outcome report, and the mentor can add a closing note.

Scoped by module and period

Mentorship is not an unlimited account takeover. It is scoped to the life module or modules the mentor's offer covers and to a defined period. The rest of the SelfPatch experience remains the user's own. This makes the mentor relationship specific: a person can ask for human guidance where they want it without handing over every part of their self-improvement history.

How mentorship works

Mentorship is optional; SelfPatch works fully without it. When you want a person to write part of your plan, it takes four steps.

  1. 01

    Find a mentor

Browse mentors by area in Find a mentor: their expertise, how they work and what their offer covers. The profile is open before you start.

    • Fitness
    • Nutrition
    • Sleep
    • Learning
  2. 02

    Pick a period

Choose how long the mentorship runs. The period starts as soon as the mentorship begins.

    • Daily
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
    • 3 months
    • 6 months
    • Yearly
  3. 03

    Your week gets built

Your mentor writes tasks, workouts and, in Nutrition, a diet plan. Mentor tasks arrive blue on your Today screen, with their source written on them.

  4. 04

    You stay in control

Your mentor sees only the areas you open. All of them start closed, and you can close one again at any time.

72-hour rule

If your mentor stays silent for 72 hours, the period closes on its own and the unused days come back to you.

Other endings: you can end a mentorship at any time, and a service problem can go to a support case. A mentor can end one only through a request that moderation reviews.

Privacy starts closed

The default mentorship service needs the status of tasks the mentor assigned. Beyond that, optional information is controlled through explicit switches, and every switch starts off. They cover level/rank/streak, real name, a 30- or 90-day window of pre-mentorship history, automatic tasks in the module, onboarding answers, module intake answers, weight, waist and measurement trend, answers to mentor questions and, in Nutrition, seeing or editing the meal plan.

Mentor access is logged, the user can inspect the access log, and optional access can be revoked. Access ends with the mentorship period. See the Privacy Policy for the complete data-handling terms.

Boundaries are part of the product

  • Habit support, not healthcare: mentorship is not diagnosis, treatment, medication dosing or a system for harmful targets.
  • No off-platform contact exchange: phone numbers, email addresses, social accounts and payment details are not part of the mentor/user exchange.
  • Moderated content: what a mentor writes is user-generated content and is subject to moderation.
  • User-controlled sharing: optional information is permissioned rather than assumed.

Why mentorship exists in SelfPatch

Automated guidance is useful when the main problem is deciding what to do next. Human mentorship is useful when context, accountability or a deliberately written plan matters more. SelfPatch keeps both models inside the same progression system instead of forcing the user to choose between a blank habit tracker and an entirely separate coaching workflow.
